A café, huh?

Welcome to the café, please enjoy your stay.

A coffee.

The last time I blogged actively was in... 2008. Four years of Livejournal. A good time, but then some idiot invented Facebook and it was all downhill from there really.

The plan here is to be part blog, part reviews, part expression of my interests, part cosy community of people with shared interests. Ultimately I'd like this to become more than just my blog. I would like to see it be a place for many people to write little articles about the things that are interesting.

I would pay them, of course. In fact, the ground rule here is that no one writes for free. For that to work, I need to do the work to make this into something worth writing for. It will seem like a blog for now, but know that this is not my ultimate plan.

I chose the name “Tamaaya's café” because of the idea of this being a cosy community. Maybe I’ve just been reading too much Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou lately, but that’s the vibe I would like to have.

I also wanted to move away from what I’m mostly known for: video game and anime bullshit. Those will be a part of this place, but not all of it. I want it to be a kind of “things that interest me and this community” place. It has to fit in. What does that mean? Honestly, I don’t know. It’s all vibes-based.

The challenge will be to keep up with it. I tend to get distracted easily and fall off efforts like this. I need to change that, to make it work out better. This is going to be part of that effort for me.

Of course, what I really need are readers. I don’t need many, just enough that they can come here and read what I write and think “hey, this person seems cool, I will read her stuff more.” If that’s you, then thank you, I hope you enjoy your time at the cafe.

I’m (slowly) going to figure out how to make this place look nice. We might be open for business, but there’s still tradies coming in and out to put the finishing touches on it all. I need to learn how the platform (Ghost, for the curious) works, and how to twist it to my desires.

Welcome to the café, try it out, won’t you?
